Karnataka seer Sri Shivakumara Swamiji passed away at the age of 111, confirms CM HD Kumaraswamy. Sri Shivakumara Swamiji, the head of Sree Siddaganga Mutt in Karnataka passed away at 11.44 am on Monday. The cremation will be done on 22nd January at 4.30 pm.He was 111. He was on ventilator support for the last 15 days.
"State government declares a three-day state mourning and one day holiday for all schools, colleges and government offices on the demise of Siddaganga Math seer Sri Shivakumara Swamiji," announced CM HD Kumaraswamy.

Shivakumara Swami was considered one of the most esteemed religious and social practitioners of the Lingayat-Veerashaiva faith of Lingayatism. The 111-year-old mutt head was being treated for a lung infection which he developed after an operation in December last year.
