After the Mega Opposition rally in West Bengal, the Opposition parties have come in fore front to tackle the Modi-Shah juggernaut and Karnataka CM Kumaraswamy has also declared Rahul Gandhi as their PM candidate.
After DMK’s MK Stalin, now it’s the JDS leader and CM Kumaraswamy who has backed Rahul Gandhi to become the Prime Minister of the country and lead the nation from the front.
In an exclusive interview to NDTV, he said, “My part's decision is we want to support Rahul Gandhi as prime ministerial candidate. This is our commitment and it remains so.”
Kumaraswamy clarified that his earlier comments about CM Mamata Banerjee becoming PM was taken out of context and his party backs Congress president’s candidature for the PM’s post.
He added that “I said among regional parties, there are several able leaders there, other than the BJP. Why not Mayawati, Mamata Banerjee... But our party is committed to installing Rahul Gandhi as prime minister.”
Praising PM Modi’s quality of speaking and communicating, Kumaraswamy said that “Modi-ji speaks well, his presentation is good, he uses social media but what is his achievement in the last four years.”
Earlier, it was DMK president and ally of Congress MK Stalin who had declared that Opposition candidate for Prime Minister will be Rahul Gandhi, in an event in Chennai.
Stalin had said, “We require a strong leadership to coordinate democratic forces. That's why I've proposed Rahul Gandhi. Rahul's hands ought to be strengthened to extricate the country from communalism and to establish democracy.”
