BJP leader Kapil Mishra, who has been accused of instigating mobs and triggering massive violence in the national capital, has been given Y+ security owing to a threat to his life. Ministry of Home Affair sources, on the contrary, stated that the department was not notified about the decision.
Kapil Mishra will now be given around the clock security by armed personnel under the Y+ category security, said sources from Delhi Police.
Delhi Police sources have stated that Kapil Mishra’s security has been enhanced after he allegedly received death threats.
The opposition has called for FIRs against Mishra and other BJP leaders for hate speeches during the Delhi election campaign and ahead of the communal violence in Delhi.
According to sources, after getting threats on social media, the BJP leader had raised concern over his safety.
However, Home Ministry sources stated Kapil Mishra has been provided Y+ security by Delhi Police but the Ministry of Home Affaris, to whom Delhi Police reports, has no grip about the decision. As per sources, the threat may have been assessed locally by Delhi Police.
The Congress party on Friday asked why FIRs had not been lodged against Kapil Mishra for alleged hate speeches after the Delhi High Court sought the Centre’s response on petitions seeking cases against Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi.
The Congress also stated that it would give a strong repply in the court over the matter.
Activist Harsh Mander has also filed a petition in the court seeking an FIR against BJP leaders Anurag Thakur, Kapil Mishra and Parvesh Verma for alleged provocative speeches by them.
