The Delhi police on Friday said that its Special Investigation Team (SIT) has identified at least 37 members of a WhatsApp group-'Unity Against Left' linked with the violence at Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) on January 5.
As per the police, the group was created against the left affiliated student wings on January 5, the day when violence broke out in the JNU campus.
On Friday, the police released the list of at least nine persons, including the JNU students' union president Aishe Ghosh.
On January 5, more than 30 students, including Ghosh, were taken to the AIIMS Trauma Centre after a masked mob entered the JNU and attacked the students and professors with sticks and rods.
During Friday press conference, Delhi Police’s special team head Joy Tirkey said that the four establishments which include SFI and AISA of the JNUSU are largely accountable for the violence.

Turkey also mentioned that a particular WhatsApp group named 'Unity Against Left' was created ahead of the Sunday's violence and its admin is one of the accused in the violence.
On the other hand, the JNUSU Aishe had refuted all the allegations and said, "We have not done anything wrong. We are not scared of the Delhi Police. We will stand by the law and take our movement ahead peacefully and democratically."
