After a huge drama over the real definition of nationalism, a 3-year-old JNU sedition case is back as Delhi Police has filed chargesheet against ex-JNUSU president Kanhaiya Kumar, Umar Khalid. Responding on the chargesheet filed against him, former student leader Kanhaiya Kumar calls it a ‘politically motivated’ ahead of 2019 Lok Sabha Elections.
Delhi Police has filed 1200 page chargesheet against Kanhaiya Kumar and Umar Khalid under various sections of Indian Penal Code (IPC) section 124A (sedition), 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), 465 (forgery), 471 (using as genuine, forged document), 143 (punishment for unlawful assembly), 149 (unlawful assembly with common object), 147(rioting), & 120B (criminal conspiracy).
Responding to the chargesheet against him, Kanhaiya Kumar thanks Modi and Delhi police. “If the news is true that a chargesheet has been filed, I would like to thank police and Modi Ji. The filing of chargesheet after 3 years, ahead of elections clearly shows it to be politically motivated. I trust the judiciary of my country,” said Kanhaiya Kumar.

The Jawahar Lal Nehru University, which was tagged as “anti-national” amidst the disputed event, which was called in to commemorate the death anniversary of Afzal Guru, who was hanged on account of the terrorist attack on Parliament.
The arrest of Kanhaiya Kumar had catapulted him to the national fame and made him a recognized politician who might contest the Lok Sabha polls of 2019 on the ticket of Communist Party from Begusarai.
