Jawaharlal Nehru University is again in the headlines again for the wrong demands. Students of JNU join their hands for protesting against the Vice Chancellor M Jagadesh Kumar. As he announced the new decision regarding the attendance that it is mandatory for every student to have minimum 75 %.
In result of this, students on Thursday started doing protest against the administration and gheraoed the campus and stopped Rectors Chintamani Mahapatra and Rana Pratap Singh and other staff members from leaving the building.
JNU students raising their voice and demanding to revised the decisions to have compulsory 75 percent attendance in an academic year to avail the scholarship and fellowships.
However, students have blocked the varsity to mark their protest against the admin decision. Students performed skits and mimes to show the agitation against the University.
However, the security guard had to be deployed the students from entering the building.
JNU staff members stated that students had bounded some of the professors and also abused them to fulfil their demands. But the Students Union denied the statements.
One of the All India Students Association said that they were demanding to meet the JNU VC. They were waiting to meet him and they also refused that they did not block any gate. They all are demanding to take the decision back to mandatory attendance rule and also called a meeting of the academic council.
However, professors were calling the gherao as an 'illegal confinement'. Students are also raising slogans against the professors.
