In an unprecedented act in Jammu and Kashmir’s Udhampur, three CRPF soldiers were allegedly shot dead by their colleague on Wednesday, who also shot himself after an altercation with the jawans.
The CRPF personnel who fired at his colleague is critically injured and recovering in hospital.
After senior CRPF and police officials reached the camp, the CRPF Commandant of the 187th Battalion, Harinder Kumar told the media that “Three jawans have died and the one who shot them is critically injured.”

News agency ANI tweeted, “J&K: 3 CRPF personnel of 187th battalion shot dead by another jawan at battalion's headquarters in Udhampur's Battal Ballian earlier tonight. Harinder Kumar, Commandant 187th Battalion CRPF says, "3 jawans have died, the one who shot them dead is critically injured.”
The three deceased personnel include head constables, Pokarmal R of Jhunjhunu in Rajasthan and Yogendra Sharma of Delhi. The third personnel, Umed Singh, of Rewari in Haryana
The incident occurred at around 10pm in Udhampur camp, when constable Ajit Kumar fired from his service rifle at three of his colleagues and thereafter shot himself as well.
