One jawan lost his life and seven others were left injured in an training related blast in Jammu and Kashmir along Line of Control in Mendhar area of Poonch district of on Wednesday. Earlier it was reported to be IED blast, however, Defence Ministry Spokesperson clarified it later.

According to reports in Rising Kashmir, an army patrol of 12 Madras Regiment was going through the area at Dhera Dabsi when the explosion took place.
Eight troops were injured in the explosion and were evacuated to nearby army’s health facility. One soldier, among the others, succumbed to injuries.
A senior Police officer confirmed the death of an army man and injuries to seven others. The explosion comes a day before Lok Sabha election results are set to be announced.
