Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday put out a cryptic tweet stating that he may soon go an a social media detox, the prime minister has eventually clarified the situation behind his decision.
And it is all about commemorating women on the occasion of International Women’s Day which is celebrated across the world.
Talking to his official Twitter handle a day after the announcement, PM Modi said, "This Women's Day, I will give away my social media accounts to women whose life and work inspire us."

The Prime Minister also unveiled a new campaign to glorify inspiring women from all spheres. Using #SheInspiresUs, the prime minister asked people to share stories of women who inspire them. A selected few will be chosen to handle PM Modi’s social media account on Women’s Day.
Sending social media into a tizzy, PM Modi on Monday stated he is thinking of giving up his social media accounts.
"This Sunday, thinking of giving up my social media accounts on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram & YouTube. Will keep you all posted," he tweeted from the handle @narendramodi.

The tweet generated a flutter as #NoSir started trending with social media users urging the prime minister not to give up is social media handles.
PM Modi is one of the most followed world leaders on social media. He has 53.3 million followers on Twitter, 44 million on Facebook and 35.2 million on Instagram.
