The heat wave conditions are expected in Gangetic West Bengal, Odisha, Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Bihar in the next 4-5 days, said the India Meteorological Department (IMD) on April 14.
On the contrary, a fresh spell of rainfall is likely in Western Himalayan Region and adjoining plains from April 16.
Western Disturbance and Forecast
- A cyclonic circulation lies over southwest Rajasthan in the lower levels, along with a trough/wind discontinuity that runs from north Chhattisgarh to Kerala in the lower levels.
- A Western Disturbance has been recorded as a trough in middle tropospheric levels, roughly along longitude 54°E and to the north of latitude 28°N.
- Under these disturbances, light to moderate isolated rainfall, along with thunderstorm and lightning, is expected in parts of Konkan and Goa, Madhya Maharashtra, and Marathwada in the next three days.
- Isolated hailstorm activity is also likely in parts of Konkan, Madhya Maharashtra, and Marathawada on April 14.
- Light to moderate scattered rainfall is also expected in parts of the Western Himalayan Region from April 15-17. Isolated heavy rainfall is predicted for the region on April 18.
- Hailstorms are predicted in isolated parts of Jammu & Kashmir on April 17, Himachal Pradesh on April 18, and Uttarakhand on April 18.
- Light to moderate isolated rainfall with thunderstorm and gusty winds expected in parts of Kerala, Karnataka, Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Telangana in the next 5 days.
- No change of weather in rest parts of the country.
Maximum Temperature
- The daytime temperatures are in the range of 40-42 degrees Celsius in parts of Central and East India, Peninsular and Northwest India.
- The maximum temperature is expected to raise 3-5 degrees Celsius above normal in parts of Odisha, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Kerala, Jammu division, Punjab, and North India.
- The daytime temperature is likely to be above normal by 3-5 degrees Celsius in parts of Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, Gangetic West Bengal, Odisha,
- The maximum temperature is likely to be above 1-3 degrees Celsius in the rest parts of the country.
Heat Wave Warning
Heat wave conditions very likely in isolated pockets in Gangetic West Bengal during April 14-18, in coastal Andhra Pradesh during April 14-16t, in Odisha during April 14-15, in Bihar during April 15-18.
