Inspector General (IG) of Police, Kashmir, Munir Khan on 3 October confirmed that three gunned down terrorists during an encounter belonged to terror outfit- Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM).
The terrorists were killed after they attacked a camp manned by the 182nd Battalion of the Border Security Force (BSF) located near Srinagar Airport and Air Force Station Gogoland.
He also said that unfortunately an Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) lost his life during the encounter.
Khan further requested the media to be reasonable before running news.
"Request media to be reasonable before running news, as such attacks will continue to happen as long as Pakistan is our neighbour," he added.
The area close to camp and the Kashmir Valley School was sealed to allow for the search and security operation to continue smoothly.
According to the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), the Srinagar Airport has been shut down due to encounter which has now ended.
No flights are operating till the security clearance and the airport is under the CRPF security.
The combing operation is currently underway.
