Congress leader Acharya Pramod Krishnan has called on the Opposition to reconsider their decision to boycott the inauguration of India's new Parliament building. His appeal comes in response to the announcement made by 20 Opposition parties, including the Congress, to boycott the ceremony.
Krishnan emphasizes that while the Opposition has the right to dissent and oppose Prime Minister Modi's policies, it is crucial not to oppose the entire country, as the Parliament represents the nation as a whole and not just a specific political party.
Acharya Krishnan's Perspective
In a statement to ANI, Acharya Krishnan raises an important question, stating, "If the Parliament of India is not inaugurated by the PM of India, then will it be inaugurated by the PM of Pakistan?" He acknowledges the Opposition's right to oppose PM Modi but stresses that opposing the country as a whole is not the right approach. He appeals to the opposition parties to reconsider their decision, highlighting the significance of the Parliament as a symbol of national unity.
Parliament for the Entire Country
Krishnan emphasizes that the position of the Prime Minister should not be questioned, as the Prime Minister represents the entire country and not just one political party. By boycotting the inauguration, the Opposition risks undermining the importance of the Parliament as an institution that serves the entire nation.
The Inauguration Ceremony
Scheduled for May 28, the inauguration of the new Parliament building will be attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla. However, 20 opposition parties, including the Congress, have announced their boycott of the event. Their decision stems from concerns that the building's inauguration without the presence of President Droupadi Murmu undermines the office of the President and goes against the spirit of the Constitution.
