Hospital offers Rs 600 to woman for keeping mum on sexual Assault in Bhubaneswar

A woman who is a resident of Bhusanda village, Khordha district has lodged a sexual assault and allegedly rape attempt case today against the security guard of Capital Hospital, Bhubaneswar.

While the authorities claim that they have fired the guard and do not know much about it, the woman said that the hospital authority is well aware of the incident and also offered Rs 600 to keep mum.

In a telephonic conversation, Sarita Rout (name changed on request) said, “I had accompanied my father for a treatment in the Capital hospital. As we come from the village and do not know much about the hospital we asked the security guard if he can take us to the doctor. On reaching the doctor's cabin, he asked my father to wait outside and I accompanied him. It was then that he tried to touch me inappropriately and attempt sexual assault.”

She also added that when she told the hospital authorities about the incident they advised stay mum and also offered her to Rs 600.

While the Director of the hospital, Dr. Manoranjan Das accepted that he offered Rs 600 but that was just a monetary help.

On the other hand the Superintendent of the hospital, Niranjan Misra said that he is little aware of the incident and would prefer not to speak about it.
