In a shocking case of honour killing, a father hacked his son, daughter-in-law and his mother in Tamil Nadu’s Kishnagiri district on April 14.
The son and his grandmother died on the spot while the daughter-in-law sustained serious injuries and was rushed to a hospital.
According to police, the man killed his son and mother as he was not happy with his child’s marriage to a girl belonging to a SC/ST community.
Initial investigations have revealed that the groom's family was unhappy with his marriage to a girl belonging to a lower caste, as they did not approve of their union. Despite their disapproval, the couple went ahead and tied the knot in March this year, and began living separately from the family.
On April 14th, the groom's grandmother extended an invitation to the newlyweds to visit her home, unaware of the heinous act that was about to be committed. Infuriated over the marriage, the groom's father brutally hacked his own son and mother to death, leaving the daughter-in-law with severe injuries that she had to be rushed to the hospital for immediate medical attention.
The incident has sent shockwaves throughout the area.
Further investigation into the matter is underway.
