Honeytrap Exposed

Ganganagar: In a shocking case of honeytrapping, a bank manager was duped of Rs 50,000 in cash and Rs 24,000 through mobile phone transactions. The police have arrested three members of the gang, including a woman, while another woman is still at large.

According to the police, the gang would befriend people, especially bank employees, and then blackmail them by threatening to file false cases against them. The modus operandi of the gang was to approach their targets, gain their trust, and then demand money from them.

In this particular case, the bank manager, a resident of Purani Abadi, was approached by a woman named Rani, who introduced herself as a resident of Abhor. She befriended him and then lured him to her house, where he was beaten up and threatened by the gang members.

The police have arrested Pal Singh, son of Jarnail Singh, a resident of Ward 12, Dulalpur Khari; Sonu Singh, son of Jarnail Singh, a resident of Ward 4, Gaon Khatlabana; and Kiran Deep Kaur, wife of Gurmeet Singh, a resident of Chak 4S, Odaki. The police are still searching for Rani, who is absconding.

The bank manager, who works at a private bank in Malout, Punjab, had come to Sri Ganganagar on August 27. He met Rani on a tempo, and she introduced herself as a resident of Abhor. She started talking to him on his mobile phone and then asked him to meet her at her house in Bapunagar.

When he reached her house, he was beaten up by Pal Singh and Sonu Singh, who threatened to file a false case against him if he did not pay them Rs 4 lakh. They eventually settled for Rs 2 lakh and took Rs 50,000 in cash and Rs 24,000 through mobile phone transactions from him. They also took away his ATM card and other documents.

The bank manager was lucky to escape from their clutches and reported the matter to the police. The police have registered a case against the gang members and are investigating the matter.

The police have appealed to the public to be cautious of such gangs and not to fall prey to their tactics.
