The security in Hisar has been beefed up ahead of session court expected to pronounce the quantum of punishment to self-styled godman Rampal on October 16 and 17. Self-styled godman, Rampal has been convicted in two murder cases. His 27 supporters have also been found guilty in the murder cases.
Rampal and his followers were held guilty last week for six murders and the wrongful confinement of the followers, by Additional District and Sessions Judge, Hisar, D R Chaliya.
Rampal was held on November 19, 2014, after two murder cases were registered against him. First was the death of a woman in the Satlok Ashram in Barwal town of Hisar. The second was filed after the bodies of four women and a child were found in his ashram in November 2014.
Rampal along with his 28 followers was booked on the charges of murder and wrongful confinement. In 2014, Punjab and Haryana High Court had directed the Haryana Police to arrest Rampal after he repeatedly failed to appear in the court.
Total 28 accused, that includes Rampal and his three women followers have been convicted in two separate rape cases registered in Hisar. Rampal and 15 accused were held guilty by the session court under section 302, 343 and 120 B of IPC. The other 14 accused were convicted in another case registered.
