A Himachal Pradesh Roadways Transport bus on Sunday fell into a gorge in Chintpurni leaving 3 dead and 44 injured.
The bust lost control and rolled down the gorge while it was going to Hoshiarpur in Punjab. According to Una SP Diwakar Sharma, who reached the spot, the rescue operation was started. During the rescue operation, it was found that eight were in serious condition and the rest of the injured persons suffered serious injuries.
As the rescue operation is underway, the toll in the incident may rise as some of the victim is in critical condition. The injured has been admitted to nearby hospital.
According to the reports, the passengers were pilgrims who were coming back home after paying obeisance at Chintpurni temple.
Reacting to the incident, Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur expressed grief over the death of two people in the bus accident. The government directed a magisterial inquiry into the accident, said state Transport Minister Govind Thakur.
