In a bizarre incident, a man shot at his own cousin over casting vote in favour of Congress party in phase VI of Lok Sabha election in Haryana. The accused, who is currently on run has been identified as mandal-level Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Dharmender Silani.
The police officials told media that Silani shot at his cousin Raja Singh after he voted out for the rival party. The accused shot at Singh thrice, twice on his legs and on his stomach. The victim was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital where he was treated. He is believed to be stable.
The police have filed a case of attempted murder under the Indian Penal Code (IPC) along with relevant sections of the Arms Act against Silani.
As per reports, Silani, a former member of Bahadurgarh civic body and BJP’s mandal unit office bearer had asked Raja and his family to vote for BJP. However, when he found that they cast their votes to Congress, Silani got anguished. Following which, Silani had a verbal fight with Raja on Sunday night. Later he went to victim’s house the next day with a .315 bore gun and shot at him.
