The Congress party on 23 October said that the Centre wants to cover up its own corruption through the Criminal Laws (Rajasthan Amendment) Ordinance.

Speaking to ANI, Sachin Pilot said the Congress party will continue to fight and protest against the ordinance.

"Government wants to cover up their own corruption through this ordinance. We'll submit a memorandum to the press. We will continue to fight and protest against this," Pilot said.

Pilot further said Congress leaders were detained by the police despite doing a peaceful march outside the Governor's residence in Jaipur.

Earlier in the day, the Rajasthan Government tabled the ordinance that seeks to shield serving and former judges, magistrates and public servants from being investigated for on-duty actions without prior sanction.

The Congress leaders also created ruckus in Rajasthan assembly against tabling of the ordinance. The state assembly was later adjourned till Tuesday.

Senior lawyer in Rajasthan High Court AK Jain has filed a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) against the Criminal Laws (Rajasthan Amendment) Ordinance in the high court.

The ordinance also sought to bar the media from reporting on accusations against the judges and bureaucrats till the sanction to proceed with the probe is obtained.

The ordinance is an amendment to the Code of Criminal Procedure, 1973.
