A government official lost his life in Uttarakhand’s Kedarnath while trying to take a selfie outside a helicopter on April 23. The official was identified as Jitendra Kumar Saini, he worked as the financial controller of Uttarakhand Civil Aviation development authority.
The incident occurred at a helipad in Kedarnath Dham, one day after the start of the Char Dham yatra on the occasion of Akshay Tritiya, when the portals of Gangotri and Yamunotri were opened for pilgrims in Uttarkashi district
Jitendra came into the range of the helicopter’s tail rotor blade while trying to take a selfie.

Notably, more than 16 lakh pilgrims have registered for the pilgrimage and many of them will use the private helicopter service.
Kedarnath temple is set to open on April 25 and Badrinath on April 27.
