From cosmetics to food products, here is what Ram Rahim's brand 'MSG' sells

Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh, who was convicted of raping two women on 25 August, was another addition to the list of spiritual baba who made it to the business world. The Dera Sacha Sauda chief is the owner of an empire that can make any business tycoon jealous.

The Godman has studied up to 10th standard and runs 11 colleges and 2 colleges that also includes a management institute. Under Dera, hundreds of products are being sold under the brand name MSG. Not only this, Baba had launched over 150 products last year, which were made available across 200 stores in Haryana, Punjab, Rajasthan and Delhi-NCR.

Biscuits, toffees, confectioneries, cosmetic products such as hair oil and shampoo are all produced under the brand MSG. According to the Dera website, it runs three hospitals- an ayurvedic centre, a naturopathy institute and a multi- speciality hospital - in Sirsa. Not only this, he owns various educational institutes in Haryana, Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh.

The followers of Dera are known as 'Premis' and they are the major consumers of the MSG products. Gurmeet Ram Rahim was announced guilty by a special CBI court in Haryana. Soon after the court's decision, the Dera followers spread violent rampage all over the city of Haryana. Later the violent protests headed over to the capital and many cities of Uttar Pradesh. As per reports as many as 30 people have been killed and over 200 have been injured in the protest.
