Exclusive: Chandipura virus alert in Rajasamand, health department issues guidelines

Chandipura virus alert in Rajasamand

Udaipur: The Health Department in Rajasamand has issued an alert regarding the Chandipura virus, which has been spreading rapidly in the region. The department has instructed health officials, healthcare workers, and ASHA workers to conduct door-to-door surveys and create awareness among the public about the importance of cleanliness and hygiene.

According to Dr. Hemant Kumar Bindal, CMHO Rajasamand, the Chandipura virus is spread by the female Phlebotomine fly and Aedes mosquito. Therefore, it is essential to take preventive measures such as maintaining cleanliness and using mosquito repellents.


Symptoms of Chandipura Virus

The main symptoms of the Chandipura virus include high fever, vomiting, and diarrhoea. In severe cases, it can cause seizures and even death. Children below the age of 15 are more prone to this virus, which can cause inflammation in the brain.

Precautions to be Taken

The Health Department has instructed healthcare workers to advise people to maintain cleanliness, use mosquito nets, and avoid accumulation of water in their surroundings. In case of symptoms, people should immediately consult a doctor.

Cases Reported in Rajasamand

So far, several cases of Chandipura virus have been reported in Rajasamand, including an eight-year-old girl from Nathdwara Tehsil who tested positive. Although the family had moved to Jodhpur, the girl is still undergoing treatment at AIIMS Jodhpur.

The Health Department has urged people to take necessary precautions to prevent the spread of the virus and has assured that all necessary measures are being taken to contain the outbreak.
