In a press conference organised in London on Tuesday by ex-cyber expert Syed Shuja, several shocking allegations were made by him. In the press meet, he claimed EVMs were hacked in 2014 Lok Sabha polls. He further alleged that former BJP leader Gopinath Munde was ‘killed as he knew about the 2014 EVM hacking.’
Syed Shuja addressed a press conference in London via Skype, he said that he had fled India in 2014 and took asylum in the USA as he felt he was threatened that he might get killed like his other mates. Shuja sent invite to several politicians but Congress’ Kapil Sibbal was the only leader to attend the press conference. His presence in the press meet has irked a controversy.
1: EVMs hacking in 2014 Lok Sabha elections done by BJP:
Former Indian cyber expert Syed Shuja, who claimed to have worked for the ECIL from 2009-2014 alleged that 2014 Lok Sabha elections were ‘rigged’ through EVMs hacking done by Bhartiya Jana Party. The hacking resulted in BJP-led NDA’s big win in 2014 polls ousting the Congress-led UPA. "The 2014 general elections were rigged," he claimed.
Shuja further alleged that Lok Sabha polls result in Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh and Delhi in 2014 were rigged. He alleged BJP hacked EVMs by using a modulator which transmits military-grade frequency.
2: ‘My teammates were shot dead by BJP leaders,’ claimed Shuja
In a press conference, Syed Shuja claimed that in April 2014, when they realised signals were being emitted from the machined during the Lok Sabha elections. They set up a meeting with BJP leaders, in a plan to blackmail the party with what they knew. Shuja claimed he and his team went to meet a BJP leader in Hyderabad suburb, where his team was shot. Shuja claimed, he was also allegedly shot but survived.
According to his claims, to cover up the incident, a communal violence incident was 'arranged' in Kishangarh, Hyderabad. His dead colleagues were allegedly passed off as the people killed.
3: Reliance Jio helped BJP to hack EVMs in 2014 polls:
Shuja claimed that Mukesh Ambani’s Reliance Jio helped the BJP to hack EVMs in 2014 polls. Jio helped the BJP to get low-frequency signals to hack EVMs. However, he provides no proof on his claim. Interestingly, Jio was not in operation in 2014 and had launched its services in September 2016.
4: BJP leader Gopinath Munde was ‘murdered’ because he was aware of EVM hacking:
Syed Shuja who claims to have designed EVMs used in elections in India alleged that late Maharashtra BJP leader and Union Minister Gopinath Munde was aware of the EVM hacking in 2014. He claimed Munde was to expose the BJP’s doing due to which he was killed. Munde died in a road accident in New Delhi weeks after the BJP won the 2014 elections in May.
Shuja also claims the NIA officer investigating Munde's death, Tanzil Ahmed, was planning to file an FIR noting he had been murdered but was himself killed, before he could file an FIR.
5: Told a top Indian journalist about EVM hacking:
Shuja claimed that he met a prominent Indian journalist and told him the whole story about EVM rigging. The cyber expert says the journalist "shouts every night" on TV debates.
