Editor arrested in 'Sex CD' scandal by Raipur police is now advisor to the Chhattisgarh CM Bhupesh Baghel

A senior journalist Vinod Verma, who was arrested by the Raipur police in a ‘Sex CD’ case, has been made the political advisor to the Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel.

Four advisors have been appointed by the General Administration Department (GAD) to the chief minister as per the official statement read.

While Verma was made the political advisor to the CM, another journalist of a Hindi newspaper Ruchir Garg, who had joined the Congress party after quitting from the former post, has been made the media advisor to the Chief Minister.

Verma, who was arrested in the Sex CD case which is now being probed by the Central Bureau of Investigation, was registered by the BJP leader Prakash Bajaj, who had alleged that “being harassed over phone by an unidentified caller.”

The case was taken up by the CBI last year and in September 2018, the agency had filed the chargesheet and named current CM Bhupesh Baghel, Vinod Verma and three others as the accused in the matter.

As per the Raipur police, “was being harassed over phone by an unidentified caller who told him that he had a CD of his 'aka' (master).”

The Congress, which had been out of power in Chhattsigarh from last 15 years, came back to rule he state with a thumping majrity of 68 seats out of 90 and the BJP was cornered to a mere 16 seats. Ajit Jogi’s party Janta Congress and Mayawati’s BSP could garner a mere 8 seats and Bhupesh Baghel was made the CM by the Congress high command.
