Earthquake strikes north Gujarat, Rajasthan; measures 4.3 on Richter scale

A mild earthquake measuring 4.3 on Richter scale struck parts of Gujarat and Rajasthan at 10:31 pm on Wednesday, say reports. Tremors were felt in several areas across Gujarat, including Ahmedabad, Sabarkantha, Banaskantha, Aravalli and Ambaji.

According to the Institute of Seismological Research, an earthquake of magnitude 4.8 struck Palanpur, Banaskantha at 10:31 pm. The epicentre of the earthquake was 31 kilometres from Palanpur in north Gujarat at the depth of 3.1 kilometres.


As per reports say the tremors were also felt in Mount Abu and Abu Road region in Rajasthan. There are no reports of any injuries or loss of property so far.

The earthquake had a Latitude of 24.2 N and Longitude of 72.9 E while the depth of the earthquake was 10 Km, which occurred in Banas Kantha district in Gujarat.

Earlier, a strong earthquake measuring 6.1 on the Richter Scale had struck Arunachal Pradesh, the US Geological Survey said. The earthquake had hit the West Siang region of Arunachal Pradesh and Assam.

The National Emergency Operation Centre, Nepal added earthquakes with magnitudes of 5.2 and 4.3 hit Naubise in Dhading district at 6:29 am and 6:40 am respectively, according to ANI reports.
