Dramatic Rescue in Odisha

Jagatsinghpur (Odisha): In a heart-pounding incident that unfolded on the Rahama–Khosalpur road in Jagatsinghpur, Odisha, two men found themselves in a life-threatening situation when their car got stuck in the midst of a flooded road.

The occupants, identified as Rashmi Ranjan Swain from Dhirankia village in Jagatsinghpur district and Prashant Mohanty from Patkura village in Kendrapara district, were on a routine drive when disaster struck.

A Desperate Climb to Safety
As the two men drove along the road, an unexpected surge in the water level of the Mahanadi River led to the inundation of the entire stretch. Struggling to control their vehicle, they watched in horror as the car veered off course and became lodged against a sturdy tree. With rising waters surrounding them, their immediate instinct was to scramble up the tree in a desperate bid to save their lives.

A Heroic Rescue Operation
Fortunately for Rashmi Ranjan Swain and Prashant Mohanty, their dire situation did not go unnoticed. Passersby on an overbridge adjacent to the site spotted their predicament and quickly alerted local firefighters. Responding promptly to the emergency call, the firefighters arrived at the scene determined to rescue the stranded men.

Hours of Tension and Relief
With the car precariously lodged against the tree and the two men perched atop it, the situation remained tense for hours. One of the stranded individuals, fearing the rising water and unsure how long it would take for help to arrive, descended from the tree and sought refuge on a nearby roof.

The firefighters, with unwavering determination, launched a frantic two-hour rescue operation. They carefully navigated the treacherous floodwaters to reach the trapped men. Despite the challenging conditions, their expertise and teamwork prevailed. Eventually, Rashmi Ranjan Swain and Prashant Mohanty were safely extricated from their perilous predicament.
