Do you have a passport? If not, then, don’t worry! The central government has announced a big relief for you as now you can apply for a passport from anywhere in India, said a press release issued by Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) on Tuesday.
Sushma Swaraj has made the announcement on the occasion of the Sixth Passport Seva Divas and during the event, she has launched the new scheme in which one can apply for the passport anywhere situating in India.
During the programme, Swaraj has also launched the mobile application named mPassport Seva App which is available in both Android and iOS platform. With this app, candidates will have the benefits of various things like applying, paying and scheduling appointments for acquiring a passport.
Check out some simple and easy steps to apply for the Passport:
1. The application can now submit their passport application at the Regional Passport Office (RPO) and the Passport Seva Kendra (PSK) or Post Office Passport Seva Kendra (POPSK).
2. A person can also submit his/her application irrespective whether the present residential address specified in the application form lies within the jurisdiction of the selected RPO or not, said the release.
3. The Police verification will be conducted at the address mentioned in the application form.
4. Candidate will receive their passport at their current address which they mentioned and it will be printed and dispatched by RPO. It means there is no need to go for collecting your passport at your permanent or the previous residential area which is mentioned in your address proof documents.
