A shocking incident of property dispute has emerged from Delhi, in which a man was strangled to death by his brother-in-law and cousin in Trilokpuri on the night of April 18. The man identified as 35-year-old Imran.
According to police, the suspects stuffed the man’s body in a sack, took it nearly two kilometers away and dumped it near Kondli drain.
After registering a case police initiated the probe and discovered the body in early hours of April 19. Police claimed to have solved the case on Thursday and arrested the Imran’s brother-in-law Naushad from Vijay Nagar area in Ghaziabad.
During the interrogation, the 28-year-old revealed that there was a quarrel between him and the deceased over vacating the latter’s two flats in R&R Colony in Trilokpuri. Naushad orchestrated Imran’s murder and strangled him death with his cousin Makruddin.
“It is also suspected that Naushad, Makruddin and Imran’s two sisters wanted him dead as they wanted to take over the two flats,” said Deputy Commissioner of Police (East) Amrutha Guguloth.
The police further informed that another suspect named Gaurav, who helped transport Imran’s body along with Makruddin are on the run. DCP Guguloth stated that the role of the deceased’s sisters — Nargis and Nasreen — in his murder will also be probed.
Imran, an unemployed and unmarried man, was living with his sisters and relatives. He was fully dependent on them.
A murder case was registered, and a probe initiated when a passerby informed the police about a body stuffed in a sack on the footpath near Kondli drain. The body had ligature marks around his neck.
When police scanned the CCTV footage around the area, where the body was dumped, and noticed a movement of a white Eeco van in the neighbourhood. Thereafter, some neighbours and Imran’s sisters were questioned.
Further investigation into the matter is underway.
