A positive step taken by Senior AAP leader and Sangrur MP Bhagwant Mann on Sunday said he has left taking liquor.
Mann also told that he has left taking liquor on his mother’s advice. However, Mann was criticised by political opponents for excessive drinking habit. Now, after his decision, he has been praised by one and all, especially from the Delhi Chief Minister and AAP supremo Arvind Kejriwal.
During the rally, Mann said, ‘ My political opponents often level accusations against me, saying 'Bhagwant Mann takes liquor and remains intoxicated day and night'. Brothers, it always pained me when I saw old videos of myself on social media where I was being defamed.’
Mann said that he has left drinking from 1st January 2019 and also hoped that he will not drink again in rest of his life.
‘ I admit I used to take liquor occasionally. But my political opponents maligned me,’ Mann said. He also added that his mother is often told him not to drink as people defamed him excessively on television.
Earlier in 2016, the suspended AAP MP Harinder Singh Khalsa had complained against Mr Mann to Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan and requested her to change his seat in the Parliament as Bhagwat Mann was stinking of alcohol.
