Earlier, the Election Commission of India promulgated a 48-hour campaigning prohibition on BJP candidate from Delhi’s Model Town constituency Kapil Mishra following his contentious tweet, poll panel official said.

The prohibition order, dashed off by the Chief Election Commissioner and two fellow Election Commissioners, would come into force from 5PM on Saturday, officials said.

In spite of the fact that Twitter had taken down one of his controversial tweets on Friday following orders of the Election Commission, an FIR has been registered against Kapil Mishra under section 125 of the Representation of the People Act dealing with creating enmity among classes.

The voting for 70-member Delhi assembly will take place on February 8. The counting of votes will be held on February 11.
