Congress President Sonia Gandhi is set to host a lunch at Parliament House on 26 May for leaders of opposition parties. The leaders will discuss a joint candidate for the upcoming Presidential election against the nominee of BJP-led National Democratic Alliance.
According to the media reports, Delhi chief minister and Aam Aadmi Party chief Arvind Kejriwal has not been invited for the lunch.
The lunch hosted by Sonia Gandhi coincides with the day when Narendra Modi government completes three years in office. Apart from Sonia Gandhi, Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi is also going to attend the lunch along with other senior party leaders.
Congress chief reached out to the opposition leaders personally and invited them, reported NDTV. The report added that most of the leaders have confirmed their presence.
The report further suggested that Left's Sitaram Yechury and West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee will attend the lunch, while Bihar CM Nitish Kumar is expected to send a representative.
