A horrifying incident took place in northeast Delhi's Netaji Subhash Place when a 28-years-old cousin raped an eight -month old baby girl. The baby' was found in critical condition with severe wounds and was rushed to a local hospital on Sunday evening.
After which she underwent a surgery that took a long three-hours for her injuries, later, she is sent to the Intensive Care Unit(ICU). The surgery took place on Monday. The baby is doing well, said the doctor.
The baby's parents used to go out to work and live the baby girl at their sister-in-law's place. Where the minor was raped by the aunty's 28 years old son.
"I left for duty and later my wife also had to leave for about an hour," said the baby's father, who is a laborer.
When he saw that his mother was not around, the accused allegedly forced himself on the baby, police said.
The baby's mother works as a domestic help when she came back home around 12:30 pm, she found her the girl crying on the bed in a pool of blood.
Immediately she informed her husband and the baby was rush to the nearest hospital where a doctor confirmed that she was sexually assaulted, said the police.
The child's cousin and his father were missing, the family of minor informed the police.
On Monday evening the victim was arrested.According to police, the 28-year-old also confessed to raping the baby under the influence of alcohol, said a senior police officer.
According to reports, he had allegedly taken away the baby saying he wanted to play with her.
Delhi Commission For Women chief Swati Maliwal visited the girl at a hospital yesterday. In a series of tweets today, Maliwal expressed her anguish over the incident saying the "DCW has been raped".
"This man puts humanity to shame. Despite being a father he did this," Delhi Commission for Women, Swati Maliwal said.
She also tweeted:

The accused man has been charged with offenses for which he could face a life term.
Laws on rape were made stringent after a young medical student was gang-raped on a moving bus in the national capital in December 2012.
