Delhi Commission of Women (DCW) on Thursday served notice to Delhi police in view of the barbaric rape and assault of a 12-year-old girl in Delhi’s Paschim Vihar area.
The incident took place on 4 August. The victim has suffered serious injuries on her body including her private parts. A doctor in All India Institutes of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) trauma centre stated that her condition is stable at present. She is in the ward and on oxygen support, he said.
Aam Aadmi Party chief and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and Chairperson of Delhi Commission for Women Swati Maliwal visited the victim at AIIMS truma centre on Trursday. The Delhi CM has announced Rs 10 lakh for the victim’s family.
“The victim was sexually assaulted in the most brutal manner. He tried to kill her. As per the victim’s statement, the accused has beaten her with a blunt object during the assault,” Maliwal said.
“We have served notice to Delhi police, sought action taken report including copy of FIR, medical examination, FSL report and inspection of crime scene. We have demanded immediate arrest of the culprit.
"Delhi police were asked to appear before the commission by August 8 and submit a report,” Maliwal added. Dr Eish Singhal, DCP New Delhi and PRO of Delhi police, stated that, “Delhi police have taken the case lodged under POCSO Act at PS Paschim Vihar very seriously.
It is a very sensitive case. The city police is leaving no stone unturned in an effort to arrest the accused. The police have thus far look through the CCTV recording and are interrogating suspect on basis of the same.”
On Thursday, one man was taken into custody on charges of attempting to murder and sexually assaulting her inside her residence in west Delhi’s Peeragarhi.
