After the steepest single-day spike in India, the totality of the Covid-19 cases has mounted to 1,360 after more than 30 new cases were registered on Tuesday. Meanwhile, the number of people who have lost their lives soared to 40.
India has witnessed an escalation of more than 200 cases in a single day whlie the number of active cases is in the region of 1,120 with 101 people either rehabilitated or discharged.
The state of Maharashtra which is one of the most badly hit states in the country has reported 10 deaths, followed by Gujarat at 6, Karnataka (3) Madhya Pradesh (3), Delhi (2) and Jammu and Kashmir (2). Tamil Nadu, Bihar, Punjab and Himachal Pradesh have reported a death each.
On Tuesday, another death was reported in Kerala after a 68-year-old died in Thiruvananthapuram. In West Bengal, a woman contaminated with the Covid-19 lost her life at a hospital in Howrah, taking the death toll to three in the state.
Thus Far, the most number of confirmed SARS-CoV-2 cases have been reported from the state of Kerala with 234 infections, followed by Maharashtra at 230 which reported 10 new cases on Tuesday. The total number of cases in the national capital, in the meantime, has climbed to 97.
The cases in Karnataka have moved up to 91 as of yet, in Uttra Pradesh it has gone up to 96. The total cases in Telangana has risen to 77, 70 in Gujarat, 67 in Tamil Nadu while the number of cases in Rajasthan has gone up to 79. It has risen to 49 in Jammu and Kashmir.
Madhya Pradesh has 47 positive cases. Punjab has reported 41 cases, while 36 coronavirus cases have been detected in Haryana. There are 23 patients in Andhra Pradesh, West Bengal (22), Bihar (15) and Ladakh (13). Ten cases have been reported from the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
Chandigarh and Chhattisgarh have recorded 13 cases, while Uttarakhand has reported seven, Goa has reported five coronavirus cases, while Himachal Pradesh and Odisha have reported three cases each. Puducherry, Mizoram and Manipur have reported one case each.
