In Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh, Chief Ministers Kamal Nath and Bhupesh Baghel signed off on the waiver hours after taking oath on Monday. Following their footstep, Rajasthan CM Ashok Gehlot waved off loans for farmers on Wednesday. Gehlot had sought 10 days to announce the waiver but did it within two days.
Under the scheme, loans up to Rs. 2 lakh will be waived at the cost of Rs. 18,000 crore to the state.
Congress chief Rahul Gandhi took Twitter and said, “It's done! Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh & Chhattisgarh have waived farm loans. We asked for 10 days. We did it in 2.
