‘Congress thinks Karnataka people are beggars’: CM Bommai on DK Shivakumar showering Rs 500 notes during roadshow

Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai took a potshot at Karnataka Congress chief DK Shivakumar on March 29, for showering Rs 500 currency notes during a roadshow in Mandya district and accused him of “blatantly misusing his power”.

CM Bommai continued his attack by stating that the Congress party thinks that the people of Karnataka are beggars, “But the people will teach them, people are the real owners”, he said.

Yesterday, Karnataka Congress chief DK Shivakumar was seen showering Rs 500 currency notes on the crowd gathered to see his roadshow in Mandya district’s Bevinahalli.  

In the clip shared by news agency ANI, the Congress leader can be seen holding a roadshow in Bevinahalli. He was then seen flinging Rs 500 notes from the rooftop of a bus during the party campaign. According to ANI, the Karnataka Congress chief was seen throwing Rs 500 currency notes on the artists gathered to see the roadshow. Shivkumar was taking out the grand-old-party’s ‘Praja Dhwani Yatra’ ahead of the state election.

Reacting on the upcoming elections, the Karnataka Chief Minister said that his party (BJP) is fully ready and will definitely return to power with huge majority.  

“The party and the government are absolutely ready for the elections. Preparations are already underway. We are just waiting for the ECI to announce the dates. We are sure to come back to power with huge majority,” CM Basavaraj Bommai said.

The Election Commission of India (ECI) is going to announce the schedule for the forthcoming Karnataka assembly election today. With this, the trumpet of the first major electoral battle in the run-up to the 2024 Lok Sabha elections will be blew. The BJP, under the helm of  Prime Minister Narendra Modi, will seek the third straight term at the Centre.
