In a major setback to the Congress party, the Law Ministry has given the permission to the CBI to prosecute former Finance Minister P Chidambaram in the INX media case.
Earlier, CBI had sought Law Ministry’s opinion whether they can go-ahead and prosecute Chidambaram and after getting the ministry’s nod, it would be tough for the stalwart Congress leader to get away this time.
The CBI and Enforcement Directorate told the Delhi High Court on January 25 this year that custodial interrogation was required in the case related to INX media and P Chidambaram was being seen as the main ‘accused.’
