After the race for Rajasthan CM ended with speculations dying out, Ashok Gehlot has taken the oath as the Chief Minister of Rajasthan and Sachin Pilot has become the deputy CM.

The two-time chief minister, Ashok Gehlot was chosen over the young turk Sachin Pilot and the supporters of latter came on street protesting against the decision and had kept the demands of making Pilot as the CM.

Today, Ashok Gehlot and Sachin Pilot were swearing in by the Governor Kalyan Singh at the Albert Hall in Jaipur. Amongst those who were present, Congress president Rahul Gandhi, former PM Manmohan Singh, former CM Vasundhara Raje and Congress leader Jitin Prasad.

Now, Kamal Nath in Madhya Pradesh and Bhupesh Bhagel in Chhattisgarh will next take oath as the respective chief ministers of their states.

The swearing-in-ceremonies in the three Hindi heartland states are seen as the platform for the Opposition unity but 2 major plank of the latter, Akhilesh Yadav and Mayawati have skipped the ceremony giving question mark to the Opposition but among those who are present from the non-BJP front are ‘former prime minister H D Devegowda, Karnataka chief minister H D Kumaraswamy, National Conference leader Farooq Abdullah, RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav, LJD leader Sharad Yadav, Sharad Pawar and TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu.’

The Congress party also gave the invitation to Aam Aadmi Party and the TMC, which can be a sign for a possible ceasefire amongst the two parties.
