Ex-bureaucrat HC Gupta and five other co-accused involved in the coalscam case have been found guilty of corruption and criminal conspiracy charges by the Delhi High Court.
The case relates to the alleged irregularities in the allocation and transfer of natural element coal blocks in the state of West Bengal. And HC Gupta, who was the Coal Secretary during the Congress led UPA regime for two years, before retiring in 2008 was held guilty in the Coal allocation case.
While Gupta was in office, he had chaired meetings and the committee had cleared more than 40 cases of coal mining. Gupta, who was a top bureaucrat, was accused of not following a a transparent system in allotting the coal mines to and pssing the tenders without proper accordance of law and undermining the said rules.
