A naxal, carrying a reward of Rs One lakh was on 21 September gunned down in an encounter with police in forests of Sukma district in Chhattisgarh.
The encounter took place around 8 am when Area Militia Commander Podiyam Bheema was killed by a joint team of District Reserve Guard (DRG) and Special Task Force (STF) in Pidemel village.
A country made gun, pistol and an air gun was recovered along with other materials from the spot.
Bheema controlled operations in at least 10 villages and had several cases registered against him.
