Chhattisgarh Election 2018: Voter turnout at 45.2% till 2:55 pm, Congress alleges EVM tampering amidst polling

The Chhattisgarh assembly election has entered in its second and final phase with 72 seats getting polled and the latest voter turnout is 45.2% till 2:55pm

The Chhattisgarh assembly held its first phase of election on November 12 and the voting percentage remained 70%. It is quite significant to note that in 2013 assembly elections, the voting % remained 75 in the highly sensitive zone of Bastar, where 18 constituencies are situated.

With more than one lakh security personnel in place, the election has been on the target zone of the naxals, who have boycotted the polls as every other time.

The election became a triangular contest when Ajit Jogi’s Janta Congress and BSP’s Mayawati came into an alliance for the assembly election.

The Congress has remained leaderless, in the sense that, they don’t have a regional leader like that of RamanSingh of the BJP or the Ajit Jogi. The attack on the Congress leaders in June 2013 had swept away their major faces and a complete void was created.

In the midst of all this, the Congress party has alleged that the EVM’s were tampered with and a “misuse and tamper EVM’s” are being used in the election.

PM Narendra Modi said today in Jhabua, during the rally that, “Corruption had ruined the nation when Congress was in power. To tackle it, we are constantly making efforts and impact is clearly visible. Through technology, we are bringing transparency in the entire system.”

First time, it is being speculated that the Chhattisgarh assembly might get a hung assembly.
