Chaitra Navratri Day 5: Watch morning aarti performed at Delhi temple

Devotees in large numbers flocked to Goddess Durga temples across India and attended the morning aarti on the fifth day of the Chaitra Navratri. People in Delhi’s Chhatarpur also performed morning aarti at a temple with religious zeal.

Chaitra Navratri is a nine-day-long Hindu festival which is dedicated to a different incarnation of Goddess Durga. This year the festival begins on March 22. The festival is an amalgamation of fasting, feasting, rituals and revelry.

Each day of Navratri is dedicated to a different incarnation of Goddess Durga, who is worshipped as a symbol of power and positivity. The fifth day is dedicated to Goddess Skanda Mata. She is the Goddess of Vishuddh Chakra (the pure in all directions).

It is believed that people who Skanda Mata on this day, get free from all the tensions welated to the world.

Navratri Day 5 Puja Vidhi:

  • Wake up early in the morning and wear clean clothes.
  • Sprinkle gangajal all around the house before starting puja
  • Pour desi ghee into the diya and light it, offer flowers or garland, vermillion and paan along with elaichi, supari and 2 laung
  • Chant Durga Chalisa, Skanda Mata Mantra and other mantras mentioned in Durga Saptashati
  • Recite Durga Saptashati Path.
  • Devotees must offer bhog prasad and chant Durga Maa Aarti before breaking the fast
