Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) General Bipin Rawat on Wednesday said the forces stay away from politics and work according to the directions of the government in power. The CDS Rawat's response came amid the allegations that he is politically inclined.
Speaking to reporters, Rawat today said, all the three services will work as a team. As per the task was given to the Chief of Defence Staff we have to enhance integration and do better resource management.
He said, "As per the task was given to the chief of defence staff we have to enhance integration and do better resource management. We have to achieve more synergy and integration. This is the motive."
"Chief of the Defence Staff is all about Synergy where effort is to achieve more than the sum of the whole. Sum of synergistic application of three Services is not for 1+1+1=3 but sum to be 5 or 7," Rawat said.

On the other hand, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has expressed his happiness over the appointment of the CDS.
Taking to Twitter, the PM wrote: "I am delighted that as we begin the new year and new decade, India gets its first Chief of Defence Staff in General Bipin Rawat. I congratulate him and wish him the very best for this responsibility. He is an outstanding officer who has served India with great zeal.
"As the first CDS takes charge, I pay homage to all those who have served and laid down their lives for our nation. I recall the valiant personnel who fought in Kargil, after which many discussions on reforming our military began, leading to today’s historic development," he said.
On 15th August 2019, from the ramparts of the Red Fort, I announced that India will have a Chief of Defence Staff. This institution carries tremendous responsibility for modernizing our military forces. It would also reflect the hopes and aspirations of 1.3 billion Indians.
Creation of the Department of Military Affairs with requisite military expertise and institutionalization of the post of CDS is a momentous and comprehensive reform that will help our country face the ever-changing challenges of modern warfare, the PM shared on the micro-blogging site.
General Rawat has been appointed as the first CDS of the country.
