The Supreme Court will not be pronouncing its verdict on the CBI matter today as director Alok Verma had filed his response on the CVC inquiry yesterday.

The case has been adourned until 29 Novemberas senior lawyer and constitutional jurist Fali S Nariman had sought time to read the files and inquiry reports of the CVC in the case.

Earlier, the CVC had submitted its reports of inquiry on director Alok Verma in the Supreme Court on November 12 and thereafter, the apex court had asked the director Verma to file his reply by 19 November.

Fali S. Nariman, the lawyer of Alok Verma has denied media reports that he had sought extra time yesterday in the reply of director Verma on the inquiry of the CVC.

The CBI has been battling with the logjam, since two senior officials, Alok Verma and Rakesh Asthana were sent on leave by the government and the Supreme Court had ordered a monitored inquiry in the matter.

The chief justice is unhappy with the leak of CBI director Alok Verma’s reply, which was yesterday submitted in a seal covered envelope to the Supreme Court. The CJI has asked how come the reply of the director got leaked and adjourned the matter till November 29.

The Alok Verma has filed an FIR against Rakesh Asthana in the Moin Qureshi bribery scandal and had sought an arrest warrant against the special director. Later on, the CBI joint director M Nageshwar Rao was made the interim director of the CBI, who thereafter, transferred most of the CBI officers who were working with Alok Verma.
