BJP president Amit Shah has been denied permission to hold Rath Yatra in Kolkata after a decision by the Calcutta High Court.
BJP president Amit Shah had planned a grand Rath Yatra in West Bengal ahead of the Lok Sabha election 2019 but the plans are now staggered because of the ruling of the Calcutta High Court.
BJP’s association with the Rath Yatra has been old, when former BJP chief Lalkrishn Advani held a Rath Yatra in 1990’s and thereafter he was apprehended by then CM Lalu Prasad Yadav. Eventually, the Babri Masjid demolition happened in December 1992.
