Blackbuck Poaching Case Updates: Preity Zinta meets Salman Khan in Jodhpur Central Jail; Court reserved bail order for Saturday

Salman Khan was convicted in 1998 Blackbuck poaching case by Jodhpur Trail Court. The court sentenced him 5 years imprisonment along with Rs 10,000 penalty under Section 51 of the Act.  The actor reached the session court. The Jodhpur Trail court has begun the hearing of Salman Khan's bail plea.

Salman has spent the night in Jodhpur Central Jail after pronounced guilty in the 1998 blackbuck poaching case. Actor's lawyer Hastimal Saraswat is ready with a 51-page bail application for the judge to consider and grant the convicted actor bail. Speaking to a news channel, he said: "If it was not Salman Khan, bail would have been granted the next day."

The other four accused actors Tabu, Saif Ali Khan, Sonali Bendre, Neelam were cleared of all charges.

Salman Khan has been charged under section 51 of the Wildlife (Protection) Act, the law states hunting as an offence in a single line which says, “No person shall hunt any wild animal specified in Schedule, I, II, III and IV”.

Recap: Pakistan Foreign Minister linked the actor's verdict to religion. Kwaja Asif stated that if Khan had belonged to ruling party's religion the court might have been lenient with him.

Asif said, “Salman Khan has been sentenced because he’s a minority. Maybe if he belonged to the religion of the ruling party of India he would not have been given such a harsh sentence and the court might have been lenient with him,”

"The case has been argued. It has been posted for tomorrow. We argued that the circumstances relied upon by the trial court were already discarded by the Rajasthan High Court," said Salman Khan's lawyer Mahesh Bora was quoted saying to Media.
