BJP warns 'hypocrite' Mamata of exposing her 'lust for power'

After West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of subverting democracy and launched the 'BJP Quit India Movement,' the saffron party on Thursday lashed out at the former, stating that they are sure to expose her "lust for power."

Speaking to ANI, BJP leader Zafar Islam said, "Mamata Banerjee and other political parties have one intention towards the country which is divide and rule. But BJP lives on simple motto like- 'Sabka Saath, SabkaVikas' and this is what we want to popularize across the country. We are sure to expose the lust for power that Mamata Banerjee has in her."

Resonating similar views, another BJP leader Vinay Katiyar stated that Mamata is a "hypocrite."

" Mamata Banerjee needs medical treatment. She accusing the government or Centre is not a new thing. This statement and campaign of hers truly prove her lust for power. CPI(M) is a party of hypocrites that follow double-standards," he said.

Yesterday, Mamata launched the ' BJP Quit India Movement' to oust the saffron party from the country.

At a public meeting in West Midnapore, Mamata said, "Democracy, secularism and rights of people are threatened under BJP government at the Centre. We will work with all opposition parties; 'BJP Quit India in 2019' will be our slogan. The BJP-led government is trying to divide the country. We will not allow it. We want this politics of communalism and hatred to come to an end. Democracy will triumph against all odds.

The Chief Minister alleged that the BJP was practising divisive politics to destroy the secular fabric of the country.

"This is an all-Bengal movement. All the districts, down to the block-level, will be covered. The agitation will continue till September 5," she added.

Later, Mamata said she will attend the rally convened by Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav in Patna later this month.
