Senior Samajwadi Party (SP) leader Ramgovind Chaudhary today accused the BJP of using the killing of terrorists for political gains and criticised the saffron party for "doing politics over dead bodies".
"The BJP is using the killing of terrorists for political gains. It wants to grab power by doing politics over dead bodies. The SP will prevent the BJP from doing such politics," he told reporters here.
Chowdhury, who is also the Leader of Opposition in the Uttar Pradesh Assembly, described Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath as "the most unsuccessful CM" of the state.
On the ongoing controversy over a portrait of Muhammad Ali Jinnah in the Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) campus, he said, "The university is an autonomous institution. It is free to install a portrait of anyone. The BJP is trying to divert the attention of the people from the core issues. It is part of a conspiracy to create a hullabaloo over a non-issue."
Chaudhary also said the SP would stand with Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) chief Mayawati, if the CBI was used by the BJP as a "politcal tool" to arm-twist the Opposition.
