Bihar governor slams colleges providing fake B.Ed degrees

Bihar Governor Satya Pal Malik today

came down heavily on colleges providing fake B.Ed degrees.

The governor also slammed political leaders, saying there was hardly a politician of note who was not associated with such institutions.

Addressing a function organised at a college here, Malik said his crackdown on the racket has earned him many enemies and urged the academic fraternity to support him in this endeavour.

"Awarding of fake B.Ed degrees has become a huge racket in Bihar. A large number of colleges exist, most of them enjoying patronage of politicians.

"There is hardly a politician of note who is not associated with one of such institutions, which admit students for the course without having the requisite authorisation.

These institutions run their business without ever having sought the permission from me or Chief Minister Nitish Kumar," Malik said.

The governor said he was not bothered about reaction of vested interests as he was bound by the mandate of President Ram Nath Kovind and Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

"I have been appalled to learn that most of such colleges do not even have faculty members. My drive against such elements has put me in their bad books. But I am not afraid. I have the mandate from the president and the prime minister. I will do my job," he said.
