Patna: Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary announced on Saturday that all state government buses will offer free travel to students appearing in the NEET UG 2026 re-examination.
Making the announcement on X, Choudhary said that travel would be free on all government buses across Bihar for the convenience of examinees. He also urged district administrations, religious institutions, and non-governmental organisations to set up refreshment arrangements — including drinking water and sattu — for students and their accompanying parents at bus stands, railway stations, and other key locations across the state.
Earlier the same day, Union Minister and Lok Janshakti Party (R) chief Chirag Paswan publicly criticised National Testing Agency (NTA) Director General Abhishek Singh over his comments regarding the NEET UG 2026 paper leak. Paswan described the incident as a serious issue, called for greater sensitivity within the system, and stressed that such lapses must not be tolerated going forward.
His remarks came amid a broader controversy surrounding the 2026 NEET examination. Authorities have maintained that the leak did not originate within the NTA, and that the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is conducting a thorough probe to identify those responsible. Officials have also defended the decision to cancel the exam, invoking a zero tolerance policy and warning that even a partial leak of questions is enough to erode public confidence in the process.
The NEET UG 2026 examination was cancelled by the NTA on May 3, 2026 — affecting over 22 lakh registered candidates across 551 cities in India and 22 international centres. The re-examination is now scheduled for June 21, 2026, and will be conducted under significantly enhanced security measures, as directed by the Union Ministry of Education.
